Raible using <\/span>a conglomeration of prototype sources to draw the poles.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">There were NKP drawings involved. It was also a combination of historical NYC and utility industry information he had found online to cross reference with.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">We are selling the cross arms as separate pieces with two options. This allow us to keep the costs lower then trying to print the pole with arms attached. This also allows you the freedom to build as you want as well as a choice of substituting a wooden dowels for your poles and saving more money and setting you preferred height.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Image below shows how I taper my wooden dowels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/modelrailroadresource.com\/WP\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Taper.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"612\" height=\"243\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-784\" srcset=\"https:\/\/modelrailroadresource.com\/WP\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Taper.jpg 612w, https:\/\/modelrailroadresource.com\/WP\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Taper-300x119.jpg 300w, https:\/\/modelrailroadresource.com\/WP\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Taper-230x91.jpg 230w, https:\/\/modelrailroadresource.com\/WP\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Taper-600x238.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 612px) 100vw, 612px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span class=\"EUDORAHEADER\">The optional 3D printed poles are 35\u2032 scale tall, and there is a hole on the bottom for mounting with a piece of wire.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">* The standard arms will come weeded with only minor sanding needed and then priming \/ painting.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The arm with the &#8220;wire wraps&#8221; will come with supports as these are delicate and must be handled with care. They are somewhat flexible and although they look fantastic, you may loose some on the layout. Each arm also comes with a rear arm bolt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">If you want to try printing these yourself you may download the files from\u00a0<span class=\"EUDORAHEADER\"><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/DanielRaible76\/3D-modeling\/tree\/main\/Nickel%20Plate%20Road\/NKP%20utility%20poles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daniel Raible\u2019s github site here<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 8pt; color: #800000;\"><strong><em>Many of our parts come with supports still attached, and will need to be carefully cut. We always recommend a good sprue cutter for this. We suggest wearing eye protection.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 8pt; color: #800000;\"><strong><em>Parts that have had their supports removed may have some small bumps where the supports were removed that will need to be sanded\/filed off for a better fit.\u00a0\u00a0When sanding we suggest using dust mask and wipe with a moist paper towel so particles don\u2019t become airborne.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 8pt; color: #800000;\"><strong><em>ACC glue works well for all our resin parts.\u00a0Parts take paint well after priming. We recommend Mr. Primer Surfacer 1000 or\u00a0Tamiya Surface Primer, but any good thin primer will work.\u00a0All parts come unpainted.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 8pt; color: #800000;\"><strong><em>Parts must be primed\/painted if exposed to sunlight as the resins will continue to cure and may become brittle.
